Manifest:
1. Movies bring Meaning to Our Lives (even if Channing Tatum is in it)
2. Sitting in a big dark room with trailers about to begin is a great moment
3. Yes, there are bad movies out there, that's why rely on our friends to tell us (except no, Manders, I refuse to see Stupid, Crazy Love)
4. Everything with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Cate Blanchett, Christopher Nolan, Christoph Waltz is an immediate Yes (Manders do you have any to add? I'd do Tilda Swinton but I think that only goes for me)
5. Laughing is Good
6. Rarely go to AM movies but July 20th when Batman comes out may be in the running for a morning movie (I did see Star Trek at 11am during finals of my senior year of college which was very worth it)
7. Be accepting of others who feel Wes Anderson makes the same movie over and over again because he does and he doesn't
8. Even if we feel like our lives are pointless and we are unsuccessful as human beings there will always be: Woody Allen, Toy Story, Reality Bites My Sherona Dance, Radiohead documentaries, Mad Men's Peggy Olson, Air Force One, Independence Day, Bill Pullman, Dennis Hooper's PRB Rant in Blue Velvet, Apocalypse Now (THE HORROR), Fred Astaire dancing in Singing in the Rain, The River Wild, Footloose (the original), The Fifth Element, J.J. Abrams, Air Force One, and "YOU SHALL NOT PASS"
Shosh and Amanda have been friends since middle school, where they bonded over their mutual love and knowledge of Pop Culture. After years and years of intensive studying, they soon realized that their only skills lay within the world of viewing and discussing all things TV and Movies. They now bring you their highly valued and sought after professional opinions on the only things they know about... Pop Culture.

Attempt 1
P.S. Manders can we talk about how many psuedo-movie blogs there are? How do we make our THE BEST. Honestly I tell you. Pure, thoughts to finger psychotic typing that we learned at MAVIS BEACON.
Drive did not pique my fancy. Ryan Gosling is hard taught body as ever (Remember when he was fired because he was too fat? I seemed to recall that throughout this movie, despite his most recent breakout as hot hot hot politician hot boy breakthrough actor). I felt I was waiting for the action to start the whole time. Slow start mostly, despite a great opening scene and the part where Christina Hendricks gets her brains blown out (why we go to the movies right?) but otherwise I was mostly unimpressed.
Cary Mulligan gives us no reason to think she's cute or charming or even ironic.

The Horror
Makes me think of good (better) contemporary horror (psychological thriller?) movies that I can recall like
and
Both have a great shot and set-up of a stoic New England house.
However nothing compares:
Best Forgotten Movie of the Year
The Debt
About three Israeli Mossad agents operating behind the iron curtain to capture a Nazi, and how their mission affected their adult lives as well. Acted with perfection by Jessica Chastain, Sam Worthington, Marton Csokas, and Helen Mirren, Ciaran Hinds, and Tom Wilkinson.
Easily one of my favorite films of the year. If this came out in November I don't think it would've been overlooked.

The man with the barbed wire soul. Manders have you seen this?
It is slow but once you get through it you will love me because it is just a great moral movie and raises a lot of questions about progress and what that exactly means.

A Forgotten but Excellent Marketing Campaign
I was playing this pinball machine last night and stared at every portrait for HOURS. Well not hours, but each expression is phenomenal. The photograph is so well crafted and JUICY. And makes me want to start back at Season 1.
